Abstract

This article is devoted to the data from a questionnaire survey, which has been conducted in 2022, 332 representatives of the Romani have been interviewed. The article presents the results that made it possible to analyze the culture of Romani people, who preserve own originality and integrity to this day. The results of the survey showed that two-thirds of the representatives of the Romani remain supporters of the traditional way of life and want to live like their ancestors, observing all the traditions and customs of their ethnic group. Our study revealed a trend of a steady decline in the skills of holding traditional types of economic activity, but at the same time, the main types of traditional economic activities retain their importance among representatives of three generations. Blacksmithing, horse breeding and divination are traditional skills.
Three-quarters of the respondents inherited many traditions from their parents and grandparents; for example, women should wear headscarves and long skirts, women and men sit separately at feasts. It should be noted that factors of ethnic mobilization have also been identified. Most Romani people know of the existence of public organizations, which are responsible for the development of the Romani culture.
